Previously, KT signed a contract with Tesla in 2017 to build KT’s communication network with the goal of connecting car service. The goal was to implement Tesla’s telematics in Korea based on KT’s 5th generation (5G) communication network. Telematics refers to collecting and providing traffic information in both directions by introducing a communication system between vehicles or between vehicles and road infrastructure (V2X) in the transportation system.
Next, Tesla launched the Model S (90D) electric vehicle in the domestic market in 2017 and selected KT as a location information service partner.
