Hyundai Motor (005380)Has started to reorganize its internal organization to preoccupy the newly opened future mobility market. It is the establishment of a new organization that promotes and supports future projects that will become full-fledged under the Eui-seon system.

According to the industry on the 5th, Hyundai Motor Company recently created a new business innovation room at its domestic business headquarters. The main task of the newly established Business Innovation Office is to expand business opportunities in mobility fields other than automobiles, and is currently in the stage of establishing specific R&R (roles and responsibilities). The Business Innovation Office is a small organization with around 20 people, but inside it is an atmosphere that reads it as a sign of starting the future mobility business with the establishment of a new room.

Previously, Hyundai Motor Chairman Eui-sun Eui-sun said, “Hyundai Motor will be a 50% car, 30% flying car, and 20% robotics.” Hyundai Motor’s future mobility strategy is expected to focus on eco-friendly cars, autonomous vehicles, flying cars, robotics, and mobility services. Accordingly, the Business Innovation Room is expected to make various attempts in the domestic market as a preliminary work to plan and commercialize a new mobility that was not previously unlike the internal combustion locomotive.

In addition, Hyundai Motor Company formed a SF strategy planning team in April of last year. This team is to build a smart factory within the Global Innovation Center (HMGICS), which Hyundai Motor Company is establishing in Singapore with the goal of completion by 2022. Chairman Chung said at the HMGICS groundbreaking ceremony held in October last year, “HMGICS’ vision is human-centered value chain innovation for the mobility paradigm shift.”

Hyundai Motor Company plans to use this innovation center under construction as a base for future mobility research. From car ordering to production, test drive, delivery and service, it will serve as an’open innovation lab’ that studies and demonstrates the entire value chain of the car life cycle. It is expected to be an outpost for the birth of future mobility, with a flying car takeoff and a power plant for the production of eco-friendly energy such as solar power. The SF strategy planning team will use the’digital twin’ technology to perform future work by replicating reality as it is.

In particular, it is known that a small-scale electric vehicle pilot production plant will be built in HMGICS. It is intended to study and demonstrate by introducing a multi-vehicle small-scale production system that can flexibly respond to market changes and demand. Earlier, Hyundai Motor Company announced, “We will use an intelligent manufacturing platform that combines advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and robotics as a test bed to demonstrate.”
