The Dongbu District Office of the Busan District Court sentenced a man in his 40s to prison for 8 months in prison for filming the private lives of ordinary people by flying drones late at night.
Two people per day who illegally photographed the private lives of residents of high-rise apartments in Busan using drones (such as reported on page 10 of October 8, Busan Ilbo) were sentenced to imprisonment and fines respectively.
Deputy Judge Lee Deok-hwan, who was solely responsible for criminal 4 of the Dongbu Branch of the Busan District Court, announced on the 2nd that he sentenced A (42) to the trial for violating the Special Act on Sexual Violence Punishment and sentenced him to eight months in prison. A fine of 10 million won was sentenced to Mr. A and his accomplice B (30), who participated in the crime.
Mr. A was arrested on charges of illegally filming the private lives of residents for 3 hours by flying a drone from a window in a high-rise apartment in Suyeong-gu, Busan, late at night last September. Mr. B was tried in a state of disability.
Mr. A directly operates the drone on the roof of the apartment, and Mr. B commits the crime by pointing out the subject to be photographed to Mr. A. In the process, the naked residents were also photographed by the camera built into the drone.
Deputy Judge Lee judged, “It is not a good crime to use drones to invade the privacy of the general public and create anxiety during the period when drones become commonplace. He ruled, “If the footage taken with a drone is leaked to the outside, it may cause serious social problems.”
Immediately after the crime, Mr. A and others were discovered when a report was received by the police that a drone fell on the apartment terrace. Mr. A, the owner of the drone, came to look for the fallen drone and ran away after seeing the police dispatched to the scene and was caught.
