About 3,000 sorting support personnel who were put into CJ Logistics will be removed from the site from the 29th. From the same day, more than 2,000 courier drivers belonging to the company will also go on strike, resulting in a significant setback. As CJ Logistics has a market share of close to 50% of the parcel delivery market, there is literally a concern about a’retro’.

The CJ Logistics Agency Association announced on the 27th that it will stop the introduction of 3,000 sorting personnel working in regional sub-terminals from the 29th. The distribution store, which was entrusted with local goodwill from the head office, shared the cost of the head office and the sorting manpower.

CJ Logistics introduced 3,000 sorting personnel after the announcement of countermeasures for overworked delivery drivers in October last year. Related costs exceed 50 billion won per year. The company’s initial policy was to cover more than half of the necessary costs, but the Federation is in a position that the head office contribution was far less than half.

The strike by the courier union announced during a debate with the company raised problems. The union, which initially withdrew from the strike during the Lunar New Year special period, announced plans for a general strike again on this day.

A total of 5,500 people participate in the strike starting on the 29th, of which about 2,000 people belong to CJ Logistics. The union’s position is that the number of manpower specified in the original agreement was not sufficient, and additional input or additional fee payment was required.

Currently, the sorting manpower is inputted at each local pick-up point and paid directly. The head office has settled the sorting subsidy for each box deferred to each agency. The association’s position is that the budget originally considered by the company when paying for weekly leave and overtime work was insufficient.

Currently, about 4,000 classified personnel are working at CJ Logistics. 1,000 were self-employed at the agency level before countermeasures against overwork. The association said that it would stop the input of a significant number of the 3,000 employees and 1,000 existing manpower that were put in until the 29th without the head office’s action.

An official from the agency association of CJ Logistics said, “These days, the parcel delivery site is really a mess.”

The official said, “I participated in the government-led meetings of the social consensus organization several times, but I only pursued the agreement that was made without reflecting opinions.” It is a very troublesome situation to be in charge of a non-union worker and a non-union worker.”

Regarding, CJ Logistics officials explained only that “we are grasping the facts related to it.”

The industry expects that up to 22 million to 23 million boxes of parcels per day will be delivered during this special season. In a simple prediction based on market share, about half of the volume will flow into CJ Logistics. If the situation persists, serious confusion is expected, such as delays in delivery.
