In this year’s New Year’s Day, new money (the priesthood) may not be used to give tax money. The union of the money-transporting company is predicting a strike.

The Korea Financial Safety (KFS) branch of the National Financial Industry Union decided to strike on the 25th. KFS is the number one transportation company with a 70% market share in the domestic cash transportation market. When a union strike becomes a reality, the cash flow is blocked. Ahead of the Lunar New Year, circulation of new banknotes is also difficult, which is expected to disrupt the supply of new cards.

“The strike is inevitable because the wage negotiations with the employers are broken,” said Nam Moon-hee, secretary general of the KFS union. Prior to the strike resolution, the KFS union applied for mediation with the Central Labor Committee and went through the mediation process twice, but could not narrow the gap between labor and management. The union demanded a 3.3% increase in wages and an improvement in the wage table. The management confronted that the management situation was getting worse and unacceptable.

Accordingly, the union voted for and against the industrial action on the 22nd and decided on the 25th with 94% approval. The timing of the strike was left to the executive department.

Director Nam said, “The timing of the strike has not been decided yet. We will set the strike date by looking at the negotiating attitude of the management side,” he said.
If the union strikes before the Lunar New Year, the distribution network of new certificates, which is rapidly increasing in demand for New Year’s money, is blocked. It is said that it may be difficult to expect priesthood tax money this year.

The union said, “The basic salary has not risen for almost 20 years.” The union is demanding that the wage system be changed by setting the commute time from 8 am to 5 pm along with the wage increase, and by making a difference in wages according to the number of years of service. Employees of this company are paid a basic salary of the minimum wage plus an allowance, and are known to be almost the same regardless of the number of years of service.

The management said, “The management situation is deteriorating, including a deficit of 2.2 billion won last year.” Regarding the rush hour adjustment, he argued, “If you do not match the business hours of the bank, you will incur overtime pay, which will worsen the business situation.” The management added, “In the end, it is possible for the bank to raise fees, but considering the reality of conducting the business with the minimum bidding system, it is difficult.”
