It was confirmed on the 11th that candidate Ahn Chul-soo, the mayor of the National Assembly Party, called Kim Jong-in, chairman of the People’s Power Emergency Response Committee on the 10th, saying, “Let’s meet as soon as possible. I want to talk openly about unification, etc.” In the stage of unifying the opposition of the Seoul Mayor’s election, Ahn professes, “The third zone candidate cannot be successful. In this by-election, the candidate for the power of the people will be elected,” and the background is drawing attention.

According to officials from both parties on the day, Ahn said to Chairman Kim on the 10th, “I am ahead of the Seoul Mayoral Election, but as the party’s representative, I couldn’t say hello. I hope to see you soon,” he said.
Chairman Kim also said in a phone call with JoongAng Ilbo that day, “Candidate Ahn asked me to set a date he wanted to meet,” he added. “But I think 1st opposition candidate Oh Se-hoon will be able to win the unification in the end.”
At the same time, Chairman Kim brought up the story of former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol. Chairman Kim said, “On the 11th, the two candidates talk about the fact that they are close to each other, but in the current phase, it is only necessary to have former President Yun as a constant and compete with each other with confidence. Because of the situation, I think they are bringing out each other’s story about former President Yun.”

On this day, the two candidates had a subtle nervous war over former President Yun. On the part of Candidate Ahn, it was said that “there could be a natural meeting or communication with former President Yoon” (Rep. Tae-gyu Lee) or “You can look forward to the part where Candidate Ahn and former President Yoon are together” (Rep. Eun-hee Kwon). Candidate Ahn also told reporters at the National Assembly that day, “The election of the mayor of Seoul is the election of the mayor of Seoul, so I look forward to the role of (Former President Yoon).”
When Ahn’s side hit the’Suk-yeol Yoon issue’, candidate Oh’s side didn’t stand still. Candidate Oh met with reporters this morning and stressed that “it is not directly with the former president, but some kind of communication has begun.”

Meanwhile, Candidate Oh and Candidate Ahn held a closed meeting on the night of the 10th. Before the meeting, it is said that this kind of conversation went back and forth between the two.
Oh Sehun “Let’s have a light drink and talk tonight.”
Ahn Cheol-soo “I couldn’t eat dinner because of my schedule, so why don’t you drink something else instead?”
Candidate Oh and Ahn, who are negotiating for the unification of opposition powers, are in the midst of recent politics. On the night of the 10th, the two candidates had a conversation in a meeting room in Mapo, Seoul, for about 50 minutes without a participant. It was the second meeting after the beer meeting on the night of the 7th, and the first meeting was proposed by Candidate Ahn and Oh.
At the meeting that day, the two agreed to agree on a relatively variety of issues. First of all, it was decided to conclude the unification before the candidate registration date on the 18th and 19th. It was also decided to hold a vision presentation. The vision presentation is a way in which Candidate Oh and Ahn each present their promises and visions, and then receive questions from expert panels such as journalists. An official from Candidate Ahn said, “If we do this, we can hold a vision presentation this weekend.”
Candidate Oh and Ahn specifically agreed to form a policy consultation team and conduct joint management of Seoul. The two sides explained to the policy consultation team as “an organization that coordinates whether the two candidates’ pledges do not conflict, and inherits the pledges of candidates who are eliminated when unified.”
In the future, it also formed a consensus over the joint management of Seoul. However, according to officials from both sides, the expression of joint management at the two candidate meetings could be misunderstood as’sharing and eating’. It is said that the expression was used.

Over the consecutive closed meetings of the two candidates, the opposition is interpreted as “isn’t it giving an active signal of unification in a’top-down’ way.” The top-down method means that the leadership team first meets to reach a large framework of consensus, and then makes detailed adjustments at the working-level meeting. In fact, the two candidates met on the 7th, two days before the first working-level meeting (9th), and on the 10th, one day before the second working-level meeting (11th).
This afternoon, the working group ended the second meeting. Representative Lee Tae-gyu of Candidate Ahn said, “We agreed to conduct public opinion polls on the 17th and 18th and announce the unification on the 19th,” after meeting with the reporters. The working group will hold the 3rd meeting on the morning of the 12th.
The unification competition between Candidate Oh and Candidate A is a very close match. According to a public opinion poll commissioned by KBS to Korea Research on the 11th, 38.4% of respondents said that pan-optics should be unified as candidate Oh, and 38.3% said that pan-optics should be unified as candidate Ahn.
