While the government is on the verge of speeding up the era of popularization of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric and hydrogen vehicles, it will establish hydrogen charging stations in 115 locations nationwide, including 37 locations in the metropolitan area by this year.

According to the ‘2021 Hydrogen Charging Station Detailed Installation Plan’ obtained through the Ministry of Environment and the Democratic Party’s Office of the Ministry of Environment and the Democratic Party on the 28th, the government plans to build a total of 115 charging stations with a goal of 110 or more hydrogen charging stations by the end of this year.

Earlier, the government announced its goal to establish ‘180 hydrogen charging stations’ nationwide by this year. Including 73 hydrogen charging stations nationwide, 188 hydrogen charging stations will be built.

According to the installation plan, the government plans to build a total of 37 charging stations in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon metropolitan areas. Specifically, there are △16 in Seoul, △17 in Gyeonggi and △4 in Incheon.

In metropolitan cities, there are plans to set up charging stations in △6 in ​​Busan, △4 in Daegu, △8 in Gwangju, △7 in Daejeon and △5 in Ulsan. In Chungbuk and Gangwon, 15 and 11 are installed respectively. There are 10 planned locations in Gyeongnam.

In addition, there are △1 place in Sejong, △4 places in Chungnam, △7 places in Jeonbuk △1 place in Jeonnam △2 places in Gyeongbuk.

The 115 charging stations planned to be built this year are under a budget project, and each is undergoing a step-by-step procedure. In the’planning’ stage, 14 units are in the process of site selection and contract negotiation, and △58 designs, △21 licenses and △22 constructions are in progress.

In particular, the government plans to improve the charging conditions in the city by building charging stations at the Seosomun Building in Seoul and the Yongsan War Memorial to increase the acceptance of hydrogen charging stations in the city. To this end, the government is considering improving regulations, such as allowing hydrogen charging stations to be installed in urban parks and green belts.

On the 25th, Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki and Minister of Strategy and Finance held the ‘5th Innovation Growth BIG3 Promotion Meeting’ on the 25th, saying, “Support for user convenience, that is, regulatory reform is urgently needed to achieve the goal of 300,000 eco-friendly vehicles this year.” It announced that it will focus on reform within this year by presenting the top 10 tasks of the company.

The ruling Democratic Party also announced its goal to take the lead in leading’carbon neutrality’ by increasing eco-friendly vehicle charging stations in line with the government’s basic plan. “We will supply 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations and install 450 hydrogen charging stations by 2025,” said Kim Tae-nyeon, the head of the hospital, and emphasized that we will build an environment that can reach charging stations anywhere in the country within 30 minutes.

Rep. Lim Jong-seong, a member of the National Assembly’s Environmental Labor Committee, said, “We will try to improve the atmospheric environment, including not only expanding eco-friendly vehicles, but also reducing greenhouse gases through the establishment of hydrogen vehicle infrastructure.”
