Inflow of yellow sand from northeastern China… The concentration of fine dust gets thicker
First yellow sand observation this spring in Seoul, Gwangju, and Daegu
The wind is strong, so it moves to the upper layers of the dense yellow sand… Worst is harm

As the worst yellow dust that hit Beijing has flowed into Korea, the first yellow dust has been observed in Seoul and other parts of the country this spring.

A’fine dust warning’ was issued in some areas, but the worst situation was avoided because the wind was so strong.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon’s report.

A cloud of dust was created under the blue sky.

The visibility did not drop significantly due to the increase in particulate matter, but the entire city center was hazy as if covered by a pale gray curtain.

Yellow dust originated in northeastern China has flowed into Korea.

Citizens who go out only thinking about the sunny weather are embarrassed by the sand dust from Namsan Mountain.

Seoul, Incheon, Suwon, and other metropolitan areas, Chungnam Hongseong, Gwangju, and Daegu. The first yellow dust was observed this spring in Jeju and other countries.

The highest concentration of fine dust soared to 184㎍ in Guro-gu, Seoul, and 276 in Wolgot in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, Taejeon-dong and Taejeon-dong in Daegu, Jeongseon in Gangwon, Jangheung in Jeonnam, and Jinju in Gyeongnam.

A fine dust warning has been issued in South Gyeongsangnam-do, and a fine dust warning has been issued in Gyeonggi, Chungnam, and the southern interior.

However, the yellow dust situation that I was worried about was not as bad as Beijing.

This is because most of the dark yellow sand has passed through the upper layers due to the strong wind.

Therefore, as in 2015 and 2016, the severe yellow dust that caused the’yellow dust warning’ has not been reproduced.

However, since the yellow dust was strong and widely occurred, the concentration of fine dust is expected to maintain a more’bad’ level for about a day.

It is expected that in the second half of the week, relatively clean air will be available due to the influence of the pressure valley and the east wind.

However, as yellow dust is expected to be similar to or less than that of the previous year this spring, there will be two or three more sudden attacks of sand dust.
