Today, the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the first emergency measures to reduce fine dust were issued in the metropolitan area and Chungcheong provinces this year.

The high concentration of fine dust is expected to be gradually resolved with the cold air in the afternoon tomorrow.

This Lunar New Year holiday was as warm as the spring weather in March.

Inland daytime temperatures such as Seoul were around 15 degrees, which is 10 degrees higher than the previous year.

However, on the last day of the Lunar New Year holiday, the atmosphere was congested in the warm weather and smog from China overlapped, and the city center was trapped in gray dust.

The concentration of ultrafine dust, which is fatal to the respiratory system, has increased 2 to 5 times higher than usual,

The highest concentration of ultrafine dust in the areas of Jung-gu, Seoul, Yeongheung, Ongjin-gun, Incheon, Seosin-myeon, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do, and Naepo, Hongseong, Chungcheongnam-do, reached a level of’very bad’.

Accordingly, emergency measures to reduce high-concentration fine dust were issued for the first time in Seoul and other metropolitan areas, Sejong and Chungcheong areas this year.

In addition to inspection of workplaces with a lot of fine dust emissions, road water cleaning was also carried out to reduce dust.
