[기상센터][날씨] The coldest year-end and New Year holidays in 11 years, Seoul -12℃… Heavy snow on the west coast

Today, as the morning temperature in Seoul drops to -12 degrees, the strongest cold wave will come this winter, and heavy snow will pour over the coastal area.

This cold wave is expected to last a long time until the beginning of the new year, and it is expected to be recorded as the strongest’year-end and new year cold wave’ in 11 years.

The cold wind is getting stronger and the temperature is falling rapidly.

This is because a strong arctic cold below -30 degrees Celsius is coming.

The strongest cold wave will come this winter with below -10 degrees Celsius in central regions such as Seoul at night.

A cold wave warning was issued in Gyeonggi and Yeongseo, where the temperature was lower than the previous day by more than 15 degrees.

Coldwave warnings have been issued in other central and northern Gyeongsang provinces such as Seoul.

On my way to work, the temperature in Cheorwon will plummet to -17 degrees below zero.

Other parts of the central region, including -15 degrees below zero in Paju and 12 degrees below zero in Seoul, are expected to record the lowest temperatures this winter.

Also, due to the cold wind, the perceived temperature will plummet below -20 degrees.

In particular, this cold wave is expected to continue until the first day of the new year, the worst in 11 years since 2009 in Seoul standards.

The Meteorological Administration called for caution, saying that heavy snowfall of over 50cm will fall on Ulleungdo and Dokdo by the first day of the new year amid strong cold waves, and it is expected that there will be up to 30cm or more of snow on the west coast.
