[글로벌리포트]After the’vaccine nationalism’ storm… Thailand “postponed vaccination due to supply shortage”

[앵커]

The conflict between the European Union and AstraZeneca has ended, but vaccines have become more difficult for developing countries that have not even started vaccination.

Due to the delay in supply of AstraZeneca vaccine, the inoculation was delayed in Thailand as well.

There is increasing uncertainty about which vaccines will be available and when.

Thailand has postponed AstraZeneca vaccination, which was scheduled to begin with medical staff on the 14th of this month.

Thailand’s Ministry of Health explained that the European Union and AstraZeneca’s battles have disrupted the supply and demand of 50,000 vaccines scheduled to come by early February.

However, it did not reveal the details of how the vaccination conflict in developed countries affected the volume of vaccines secured by Thailand.

The government has also purchased an additional Chinese-made synovac vaccine, but is cautious about the synovac vaccination as concerns arise that the efficacy has not been properly proven.

Citizens are concerned about whether they are being pushed by advanced countries and getting a vaccine made in China.

In Thailand, 8 to 900 new confirmed cases have occurred every day since the outbreak of infection from the fish market at the end of last year.

Thailand, which faced a vaccination crisis due to the vaccination war of advanced countries, faced the task of eliminating the anxiety of citizens by securing safe vaccines as well as blocking the spread of regional infections.
