[국제]US’one China’ unchanged… normal calls between the US and China need more time

The Biden administration has said that China’s key requirement, the so-called “one Chinese policy,” remains in effect.

This translates to a positive sign for China, but President Biden is still not calling Xi Jinping.

Correspondent Sungwoong Kang reports from Beijing.

US State Department spokesman Ned Price is asked if he supports the One China policy.

Spokesman Price, who was contemplating expression, replies yes.

It wasn’t a ready answer, but it’s a positive sign for China, which came about two weeks after the Biden administration was launched.

This is because it officially recognized the “One China” policy of seeing Taiwan as a part of China.

However, the US position of seeing China as a competitor remains the same.

The aircraft carrier Nimitsu, recently withdrawn from the Middle East, is moving to the Indo-Pacific region.

After arriving in Yokosuka, Japan, it is known that sooner or later, they will begin joint training with Japan and Australia.

Along with the Roosevelt, which recently sailed in the South China Sea, at least two aircraft carriers were put into containment in China.

In this situation, for the first time since President Biden took office, a US destroyer passed through the Taiwan Strait.

China rebelled.

Analysis is also emerging that there is no need to rush calls between the leaders of China as well.

This is because in a situation where interests are sharp, only disagreements may be exposed.

China is in a clear position that cooperation with the United States is important, but mutual respect and sovereignty protection come first.

Although there are some positive signs of the US-China relationship, it will take a long time to find a way to cooperate as the conflict has been deep.
