[국제]US 2 trillion won stimulus plan passed… “Securing an additional 100 million vaccine doses… We will share the excess”

[앵커]

This is how the U.S. is focusing its efforts on two aspects: securing vaccines along with stimulating the economy, which was contracted by Corona 19.

Following the passing of the ultra-large economic stimulus plan of KRW 2,000 trillion, it was decided to buy an additional 100 million doses of vaccine. President Biden said he would share the vaccine with other countries if it becomes available, but it remains to be seen whether that will be achieved.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to support Corona 19, worth $1.9 trillion and KRW 2,000 trillion in Korean money, promoted by President Joe Biden.

The bill would pay up to $1,400 per person in cash to 90% of U.S. households and extend unemployment benefit payments of $300 per week to September.

Hundreds of billions of dollars were also included in the budget for corona19 vaccination and testing expansion, support for school normalization, and support for industries that suffered heavy losses such as airlines and performance venues.

President Biden, who said he had enough vaccines available for all American adults by the end of May, ordered an additional purchase of 100 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

He explained that it is a dimension to prepare for unexpected events in the same situation as in the war.

When a reporter asked what he would do with the remaining vaccines, he said that he would apply to other countries if there were spares, but he was still focused on securing sufficient supplies in his country in case there is a possibility.

Earlier on the 1st, President Biden received a request for vaccine assistance from Mexico and refused to give priority to the Americans.

White House spokesman Jen Saki said the extra dose could be used for inoculations for children or for countermeasures against the mutant virus.
