[국제]UAE probe arrives on Mars… exploration competition intensifies

[앵커]

What do you think of the first thing in the UAE? The first thing you might think of as an oil-rich country.

However, a UAE probe has recently entered Mars orbit, and the exploration competition is intensifying.

It has entered a space development powerhouse.

The UAE Mars probe’Amal’, meaning’hope’, entered Mars orbit 7 months after launch.

It is the fifth country in the world to orbit Mars after the United States, Russia, Europe and India.

It also set a record as the first country to first send a rover to Mars farther away without exploring the moon.

Amal, the size of an SUV, orbits Mars, observes Mars’ atmosphere, and sends data to Earth twice a week.

We plan to stay above Mars for 1 year on Mars time and 687 days on Earth, and meticulously investigate Mars’ climate change and share it with the world.

Following Amal, China’s Tianyuan 1 also entered Mars orbit.

The Tianyuan 1 will attempt to land in May without sending a lander and rover to explore the surface of Mars right away.

Upon completion of this process, China will be the third country in the world to hit the surface of Mars after the United States and the former Soviet Union.

The U.S. will also land the probe Perservance on Mars on the 18th, and then carry out a mission to dig out the soil from Mars and bring it to Earth.
