[국제]U.S. man receives emergency surgery after swallowing wireless earphones while sleeping

A man who was sleeping with wireless earphones accidentally swallowed one of the earphones and underwent emergency surgery.

According to US NBC News, on the 2nd, Bradford Gaultier of Worcester, Massachusetts, woke up feeling a foreign body in his throat. He had cleared the snow from the yard the night before and went to bed listening to music. At first, Gottie thought that he was thirsty, and considered it insignificant.

After getting up, Gaultier cleared his eyes for more than an hour and returned home. As the thirst continued, Gottie tried to drink water, but suddenly the feeling of foreign body and pain intensified, making it difficult to swallow even water.

While thinking that he was not in good shape, he discovered that one of his wireless earphone Airpods was missing. “My son and wife said that I might have swallowed an Airpod. It was a joke at first, but I went to the hospital because my heart felt like something was completely blocked.

To solve the mystery, Gaultier went to the emergency room to get an x-ray, and found that one of his lost AirPods was lodged in his chest.

The medical staff removed the AirPods as an emergency surgery, and fortunately, Gaultier was able to return home without hospitalization. “It’s very rare for my doctor to have no severe pain,” said Gaultier. “I never thought that sleeping with earphones could be dangerous. I was really lucky.”
