In Mongolia, the source of the yellow dust, deaths and disappearances have also emerged from sandstorms.

This is Chang’an Street in the heart of Beijing, China.

The buildings along the boulevard are covered by yellow sand, so you can only see about 2 to 300 meters long.

Even high-rise buildings are barely showing their outlines.

Most vehicles on the way to work have their headlights turned on.

Citizens of the street hurry to step with their heads down.

For the first time this year, the Beijing Meteorological Department issued a yellow dust warning.

On Sunday, we set a low level of blue alert, which was raised a notch as the yellow dust winds got stronger.

Children and the elderly were asked to refrain from going out at all.

Even though it is midday now, downtown Beijing is buried in this dense yellow sand.

Yellow dust suddenly occurred in a state of heavy fine dust.

Beijing’s air quality index, including fine dust and ultrafine dust, also recorded the’worst’ level.

This is because the winter heating in the surrounding area has not yet finished, and the plant utilization rate has recently increased.

Yellow dust originated from the Mongolian side as a result of being overwhelmed and flocking to northern China.

In Mongolia, more than 80 nomads have been missing and several deaths have occurred in this sandstorm.

China’s meteorological bureau says this is the most powerful yellow dust in 10 years.

Some provinces in Neimung-gu near the source have imposed temporary closures for kindergartens and elementary and middle schools.

This yellow sand is moving toward the Korean peninsula with the wind.

Chinese authorities predict that yellow dust will occur six to nine times in the northern region this year.
