[국제]The New York Times “The countries that bought Chinese vaccines are regretting”

China’s confidently released COVID-19 vaccine’Synovac’ is being ignored by the world due to late delivery and doubts about its quality.

On the 25th, the New York Times of the United States said, “China tried to show off its scientific capabilities by making and distributing the Corona 19 vaccine, but it caused a backlash in some countries.”

The governments of Brazil and Turkey, who recently purchased the Chinese-made Corona 19 vaccine’Synovac’, expressed dissatisfaction, saying, “We are not getting the vaccine properly.” The Turkish government signed a contract to receive 10 million doses of Chinese vaccines by December last year, but it is reported that only 3 million doses have been supplied by the beginning of this month.

Unlike Pfizer and Moder vaccines, China’s Sinovac vaccine can be stored at refrigerated temperatures. As a result, transportation costs were reduced, and it was welcomed by developing countries.

Chinese vaccines are known to be effective in producing COVID-19 antibodies, but they are not as effective against the virus as vaccines developed by Pfizer or Moderna in the United States. Previously, Turkish officials introduced that the Chinese vaccine had an immunity effect of more than 90%, but in Indonesia, the immunity effect was 68%. Even earlier this year, a study found that “including those with mild symptoms, the immune effect of Chinese vaccines is a little over 50%.”

This has led some opposition lawmakers in the Philippines to criticize the government’s decision to purchase a Chinese vaccine. Similarly, Malaysia and Singapore, which imported Chinese vaccines, were questioned about the effectiveness of the vaccine and were concerned about side effects.
The government had to step up and appease them.

“I will not be vaccinated against China because of the lack of data right now,” said Villahari Kaushikan, a former official at the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

However, Beijing officials, hoping that Chinese vaccines would take over the world, raised doubts about the safety of Pfizer and Modena vaccines through state-run media. They reported on the campaign against vaccination in the United States day after day, promoting that Chinese vaccines could be a better alternative. In addition, at a press conference last week, Sinobag CEO’In Weidong’ continued to self-praise that its vaccine is 100% effective in preventing severe cases.

However, most respondents said they “do not trust vaccines made in China,” according to a data company YuGov survey conducted this month with about 19,000 people in 17 countries around the world.
