[국제]Myanmar military government “deaths of police officers for illegal actions of protesters” … additional prosecution of shame torture

With the eleventh day of peaceful protests against the Myanmar military coup, the Myanmar military government held a press conference for the first time since the coup, claiming that a policeman was killed by the protesters’ illegal actions.

Myanmar’s military government also prosecuted adviser Aung San Suu Kyi for violating the National Disaster Law.

Buddhist monks protest against a military coup in Yangon, the largest city in Myanmar, a Buddhist country.

They marched through downtown Yangon with placards saying they don’t want a military dictatorship, calling for participation in protests against the coup.

In Mandalay, Myanmar’s second city, monks protested on the streets, shouting refusal to a military coup and the release of Mrs. Aung San Suu Kyi.

In Mandalay, where several people were reportedly injured by military police firing slingshots and air guns a day ago, about 3,000 people, mainly students, gathered again to protest the coup.

In Yangon, protesters flocked to the railroad between Yangon and the southern city of Molamin, stopping trains from running.

In the midst of this, state adviser Aung San Suu Kyi, who was house arrested by the military after the coup on the 1st, was additionally prosecuted.

Suu Kyi’s lawyer said Aung San Suu Kyi was charged with violating the National Disaster Act.

On the 3rd, a shame adviser was charged with violating the import and export laws using illegally imported walkie-talkies.

The military regime in Myanmar held an online press conference for the first time since the coup.

Military government spokesman Cho Min Thun told a press conference that protesters were instigating violence and forcing officials from working, claiming that police officers were injured and killed as a result of the protesters’ illegal actions.

When criticism has been raised domestically and internationally over the military’s violent response to protests in the coup protest, it is interpreted as trying to shift responsibility toward the protesters.
