A Mexican grandmother who came to get the Corona 19 vaccine was rescued by handing a note to the medical staff stating that she was being abused by her daughter and son-in-law.

Mexico has been vaccinating about 1 million people, including the elderly and underlying diseases, as the primary target since February. According to local media, El Thiempo, on the 4th of last month, Carolampia Diaz, 85, who lives in the Izta Palapa area of ​​Mexico City, was also classified as a primary target and visited a vaccination center.

On that day, Diaz’s grandmother secretly handed a note to the nurse when she was far away from her family before getting the vaccine. The note said, “I was kidnapped by my daughter and son-in-law, so please help me.” It also said, “I’ve been trapped in the house for a year and my family prevented me from leaving the door.”

The nurse, who saw the note, forwarded it to an employee of the Mexican Civil Security Office, who was guarding the center. When reported, Mexican police arrested and detained Laura Gamez Diaz, 39, and son-in-law Ramon Sanchez Gomez, 59, the accused’s daughters allegedly as perpetrators.

Diaz is now being moved to a safe place and protected, and local police are investigating whether there has been any actual abuse. In an interview with the local media, Diaz called for severe punishment, saying, “My daughter and son-in-law have locked me in the house, insulted me and made me live in a terrible environment.”

Since the spread of Corona 19, domestic violence has increased worldwide, which has become a social problem. In Mexico, in particular, according to government statistics, the number of domestic violence cases in January and February this year increased by 23% from the same period in 2019.
