Japanese Prime Minister Suga is expected to declare an emergency in four metropolitan areas, including Tokyo, where the number of corona19 infections is increasing rapidly.

Japanese media such as support news and Nihon TV reported that Prime Minister Suga has entered into a review in the direction of declaring an emergency in four metropolitan areas including Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa and Chiba Prefecture.

Japanese media explained that Prime Minister Suga is planning to set specific details, such as the period of the emergency, after hearing opinions at an expert meeting this week as early as possible.

Prime Minister Suga is expected to unveil his plan to respond to Corona 19 in front of the public at a press conference held at 11 am.

If Prime Minister Suga declares an emergency, it will be the second ever in Japan, after former Prime Minister Abe issued it during the first Corona 19 epidemic in April last year.

When an emergency is issued, the head of a local government may request that local residents refrain from going out, stop using schools and welfare facilities, and close business facilities such as restaurants and shorten their business.

Prior to this, four local government heads, including Tokyo Governor Koike, requested the government to issue an emergency to prevent the spread of Corona 19 infection on the 2nd.

Corona 19 Minister Nishimura replied that he would accept the request from the local government and review it at the government level.
