With the recent deteriorating coronavirus situation in Japan, skepticism continues whether the Tokyo Olympics could be held. Has the Japanese Minister acknowledged the uncertainty of the event?

Japan’s Taro Kono in charge of administrative reform gave an interview with Reuters on the 14th.

Regarding the Tokyo Olympics, he said, “At this point, we need to do our best to prepare for the tournament, but you can go either way.”

It seems to be a remark that mentioned two possibilities, holding and canceling.

Reuters interpreted it as saying that the Tokyo Olympics, which were postponed to this summer, might not be held as planned.

In response, Kyodo News Agency reported that the ripples are spreading due to foreign media reports that Kono, the first minister in charge of Japan, mentioned the uncertainty of hosting the Tokyo Olympics.

The Japanese government and IOC of the International Olympic Committee are sticking to the position of hosting the Olympics in July this year despite the recent spread of Corona 19, and it is noteworthy whether there will be additional announcements.
