[국제]”Go back to China” abusive Korean couple

Amid the recent surge of hate crimes targeting Asians in the United States, a white woman who insulted a Korean couple in the middle of New York is shocked by being identified as the daughter of a giant politician.

According to WABC broadcast on the 19th local time and social media of 25-year-old Ha Soo-min, a victim, on the 14th at around 1:25 p.m. in Manhattan, New York City, a white woman touched her face and said, “You are not from here. Go back to communist China.”

When Ha, shocked, returned home with her husband, 31-year-old Dan Lee, the white woman trying to get in a taxi shouted that she was being attacked.

After the first argument, the Ha and Mrs. Ha stepped down, the woman pulled down the taxi window and shouted again, “Go back to communist China.”

When her husband Lee, who was filming outside the taxi, asked, “Did you say that racist word again. Communist China?”, the white woman replied, “Yeah. Isn’t that your hometown?”

As controversy spread as the footage of the scene spread on social media, local media followed up and confirmed that the woman was Mora Moinihan, the daughter of the late Senator Daniel Patrick Moinihan.

Former Congressman Moinihan is a politician based in New York who served as the US ambassador to the United Nations and the US ambassador to India for 24 years.

Mora Moinihan told WABC that he and Mrs. Ha had a quarrel over a taxi issue, and insisted that “it has nothing to do with racism or anti-Asian prejudice.”

“I have worked with Asians all my life, especially to protect the basic human rights of Tibetans suffering from communist China.”

Moinihan met with Mr. Ha and said he wanted to resolve the misunderstanding, but Mr. Ha refused, saying, “What he said is not an apology. I don’t want to meet him.”

“I was born in the United States and lived here my whole life. I was born in the United States and lived here all my life,” Lee said to WABC, saying, “It’s a serious insult to tell me to return to communist China.”
