[국제]French billionaire Republican lawmaker dies in helicopter crash

French billionaire Olivier Dazzle, a French Republican lawmaker, died in a helicopter crash.

On the 7th, local media such as Le Monde in France reported that some lawmakers died in a helicopter crash at 6 pm in Tuque, near Deauville, Calvados, in northwestern France.

While staying in Deauville, where he owned his own villa, he was displaced while boarding a private helicopter to return to Oise. The helicopter was aboard somewhat of a senator and a helicopter pilot, and both were killed in the accident.

The deceased legislator is the son of Serju Dasau, the founder of the Dasota group, who died in 2018. The Daso Group is a company that manufactures Rafale fighters, the flagship aircraft of the French Air Force, and also operates a newspaper Le Figaro, a leading press.

After graduating from the Air Force School, Rep. Dasau entered politics as a city councilor in Paris in 1977 and was elected to the House of Representatives with Oise in 2002. He previously took over the management of somewhat aviation and Le Figaro, but resigned when he entered politics.

Somehow, it was ranked 336th in the world’s richest man ranking by Forbes, an American economic magazine. Forbes valued somewhat of the lawmaker’s fortune at $7.3 billion (approximately 8.2 trillion won).

President Emmanuel Macron posted a post on Twitter and expressed his condolences, saying, “He has lost the head of his life serving his country,” and “His sudden death is a very big loss for us.”
