Quad, a consultative body between the United States, Japan, India, and Australia, organized for the purpose of checking China, will hold its first summit on the 12th.

The talks will also discuss how these four countries supply vaccines to developing countries against China’s vaccine diplomacy.

White House spokesman Jen Saki said, “President Joe Biden will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshihide, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison in video on the morning of the 12th.”

“The fact that President Biden made the Quad as one of the early holding multilateral meetings shows the importance it places in close cooperation with allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific,” said Saki.

First of all, the White House did not directly address China on the agenda of the Quad Summit.

In this regard, Japan’s Yomiuri Shimbun reported that the four quad countries are considering creating a new framework for supplying Corona 19 vaccines to developing countries against China’s vaccine diplomacy.

The United States, Japan, and Australia will finance developing countries in Asia and Africa at low interest rates, and the beneficiary countries will use this fund to purchase the Corona 19 vaccine from India.

Several Japanese government officials said it is expected that an agreement will be reached at this quad summit.

It is noteworthy that the quad expansion plan will be discussed.

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan publicly said on Jan. 29, shortly after the Biden administration was launched, that he would like to further improve the Quad.

Therefore, extraordinary attention is being paid to whether to materialize it as a’quad plus’ including Korea.

In this regard, a US State Department spokesman was asked at a press briefing on the issue of Quad’s participation in Korea and responded with the intention that Korea is an alliance that shares many concerns, including Indo-Pacific.
