[국제]’Applause’ instead of’crying’ football Korea and Japan war… the Olympics are “anxiety” despite quarantine measures

This Korea-Japan match was watched by the most people among the international matches held in Japan after the coronavirus.

The organizers implemented various quarantine measures, such as inducing cheers with applause instead of shouts, but the audience could not hide their anxious eyes about the Olympics.

Tokyo correspondent Lee Kyung-ah reports.

The audience seats followed by applause and drums.

Still, the shouts that erupt at the crucial moment cannot be stopped.

In a situation where the cheering team could not come from Korea due to Corona 19, compatriots gave generous encouragement to the national team.

[박진우 / 한일전 관람객 : 오늘 경기할 때 (선수들이) 코로나는 정말 걸리지 않았으면 좋겠고, 정말 안전한 시합 했으면 좋겠습니다.]

[이강현 / 한일전 관람객 : 선수들이 연습 시작하기 전에 저희 쪽에 와서 인사를 해줬거든요. 너무 반가웠고요.]

The Japan Football Association, which organized this match, has made all seats vacated based on seating in accordance with Corona 19 quarantine measures.

However, there was no way to control the people sitting in the field.

Nearly 10,000 spectators entered the stadium, which can accommodate 70,000 people.

This is the first time that an international match has been held in Japan with so many people watching after the coronavirus outbreak.”

This Japan-Korea match was also a test platform to verify the stadium’s defense measures for Japan ahead of the Olympics.

When entering, it undergoes disinfection and body temperature measurement, and secures personal information of visitors, so that infection can be traced later.

However, with the coronavirus infection returning back to the spread in Japan, public opinion about the Olympics is still mixed.

From next month, Japan is planning to raise the atmosphere of the competition by holding international competitions in each sport that combines Olympic qualifiers such as swimming and athletics.

With the decision on whether to enter the domestic audience next month, it is expected that the fourth corona19 epidemic will become a reality in the end.
