That’s right. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a press release a while ago that the negotiations for sharing defense costs between the ROK and the United States reached a principle agreement.

The contents of the agreement are announced after the two countries have completed the internal reporting process, followed by the procedure for naming the agreement.

The announcement on the contents of the principle agreement is expected to be made within today.

In this regard, the Wall Street Journal reported that the new agreement would remain in effect until 2026.

The Wall Street Journal, citing a diplomat, said the new agreement included a South Korean increase in its ante.

However, specific figures have not yet been confirmed.

Earlier, CNN broadcast reported last month that the ROK and the United States are likely to agree on a multi-year contract that will raise their defense cost share by 13%.

Until now, South Korean Ambassador Eun-bo Chung has been negotiating with the United States in Washington DC since the 5th.

Initially, I was planning to return to my country yesterday, but as negotiations increased by one day, I had delayed my return schedule.

Accordingly, there were observations that the negotiations had entered a phase of settlement.

The official announcement of the ante negotiation agreement is likely to come in conjunction with the visits of Secretary of State Tony Blincoln and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

The two ministers are discussing a plan to visit Korea for two days, one night after visiting Japan on a three-day schedule starting from the 15th.

So far, the International Department has delivered it.
