A transparent solar cell that can be installed on a glass window to generate electricity has been developed.

In addition, a smart glass window that automatically turns dark when exposed to sunlight was introduced.

Reporter Kim Jin-du reports on a new technology that shows energy when dealing with light.

Black panels are densely lined up in the mountains.

It is a photovoltaic power generation facility that produces energy, but the problem of environmental damage is being raised.

A new solar cell has been developed that can solve this problem.

It is a transparent solar cell.

It allows more than 10% of the incoming light to pass through and power generation on both sides, increasing the efficiency up to 15%.

When a light is shining on a transparent film, the lighted area turns dark.

Applying the same technology to glass, it becomes a’smart window’ that darkens during the day and automatically brightens at night.

The researchers confirmed that when lithium ions were injected into the film and glass, they were transported by light and this property appeared.

Glass windows and films that are sensitive to light cannot generate energy on their own.

However, it is expected to play a role in reducing cooling energy consumption as it has the effect of hitting the blinds in the summer and midday.
