The Fair Trade Commission has decided to pay 2 billion won in rewards to the public interest reporter who first announced this case.

The Fair Trade Commission plans to promote public interest reporting by spreading the reward system.

Last month, the FTC decided to sanction 7 domestic steelmakers, including Hyundai Steel.

It is accused of fixing the purchase price of scrap metal used to make rebars for 8 years.

All the fines imposed on the steelmakers caught this time were KRW 300 billion, the fourth level ever.

As a result, the public interest reporter who reported this case for the first time received a reward amounting to 2 billion won.

The Fair Trade Commission determines the amount of rewards according to the level of the penalty penalty. As in this case, 2% of the total penalty penalty is paid to the public interest reporter if it exceeds KRW 20 billion.

In addition, depending on the level of evidence in the report, it is divided into 4 stages and the reward is provided in full or in part.

In this case, it is reported that the informant provided the lowest level of evidence and received 30% of the total bounty.

Collusion cases are difficult to detect without information or data from insiders.

It was also confirmed that the practitioners used a pseudonym at the meeting and kept the security thoroughly by hiding the related facts from the company’s superiors.

Accordingly, the Fair Trade Commission plans to expand the surveillance network for collusion cases by spreading the reward system.
