The global scarcity of automotive semiconductors has led to the spread of automobile factories stopping one after another.
As domestic factories were also disrupted in production, the government and companies decided to pursue a plan to make automotive semiconductors self-sufficient.

Following Audi’s ten thousand leave, GM headquarters also extended the temporary closure of three North American factories.
Ford, Renault and Nissan are also expanding the range of production disruptions.

Domestic automakers have also been unable to overcome the shortage of semiconductors.
It has been a month since GM Korea’s Bupyeong plant cut its utilization in half.
Until now, Hyundai Motor Company, which has been relatively able to afford it, has begun to face some semiconductor shortages.

As the global automobile market recovers faster than expected from the Corona 19 crisis, the demand forecast of the semiconductor industry has been misaligned.
The automotive semiconductor market is small enough to account for only 10% of all semiconductors, and it is difficult to expect an immediate facility expansion.
In the short term, the government has decided to help the semiconductor customs clearance process quickly, and in the long term, it has decided to pursue stabilization by establishing an independent supply chain in Korea.
