On Christmas Eve, the so-called Santa Rally became a reality when the Kospi broke the 2,800 mark for the first time ever.

The KOSPI closed at 2,806.86, up 47.04 points and 1.70% from the previous trading day.

Based on the closing price, it has risen to the 2,800 high mark in about three weeks after it reached 2,700 for the first time on the 4th.

The leading players of the rise were institutions and foreigners, which led the index by net buying 6269 billion won and 116.1 billion won respectively in the securities market.

On the other hand, individuals who were called Donghak ants and who led the uptrend this year net sold KRW 747.4 billion.

Samsung Electronics recorded a reported price of 77,000 won, up 5.28% from the previous day.

This was driven by improvement in the semiconductor industry and expectations for dividends.

The Santa Rally was expected to be difficult due to a slight slowdown in the recent uptrend of the Kospi, which has crossed the 2,700 line, but the market is expected to revive as it breaks through the 2,800 line at the end of the year and early next year.

KOSDAQ also closed the market at 928.68, up 5.51 points and 0.6% from the previous day, with institutions and foreigners making net purchases.
