Deputy Prime Minister Hong Nam-ki, who presided over the real estate-related ministerial meeting this morning, said that the LH incident will bring the government to take all measures to come up with fundamental measures to prevent real estate speculation by public officials and public officials.

It focuses on preventive measures to prevent attempts of speculation, illegal and unfair activities, measures to establish a system that must be detected if attempted, measures to punish workers punishment severely if they are caught, and measures to recover illegal and unfair gains beyond that. At the same time, the government said it would consider three more things.

First, we decided to quickly come up with a strong innovation plan to become a public institution that faithfully performs its natural functions such as housing supply for LH, which is absolutely in need of transformation due to loss of public trust.

In addition, as this LH speculation case was possible because large-scale loans were concentrated in groups at specific branches of the banking sector, supervisory agencies such as the Financial Supervisory Service decided to thoroughly investigate whether there was any illegal injustice or neglect in the lending process.

We also decided to speed up discussions that reflect the government’s position on the amendment to real estate-related laws to prevent speculation and strengthen penalties related to the LH incident.

It is interpreted as the meaning that the government will actively take a stand on the discussions of the National Assembly regarding the Conflict of Interest Prevention Act, the Public Officials Ethics Act, and the Special Public Housing Act.

The government once again emphasized its commitment to eradicate speculation and to consistently pursue measures to provide housing without being shaken.

Among the 2·4 supply measures, we plan to select candidate sites with excellent business conditions and disclose them by the end of March after receiving recommendations from local governments related to urban development projects.

In addition, the location of the remaining new public housing sites of 150,000 units was announced in April after thorough preparation and verification in advance, and the pre-subscription schedule for the third new town scheduled for July was decided to proceed as planned, regardless of the progress of the investigation.
