[경제]From April 1st, the price of beer such as Cass will rise…”Reflecting the tax increase”

From the 1st of next month, Obi Beer will raise the prices of some beers such as Cass, Capri, and Obi Lager. This is the result of reflecting the tax increase.

Beer prices are expected to rise one after another this year in accordance with the ‘2020 tax law amendment follow-up enforcement decree amendment’ announced in January by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance. The revised bill contained the content that taxes were imposed on beer and takju (makgeolli), reflecting the consumer inflation rate of the previous year. Accordingly, the tax for beer increases by 4.1 won per liter, and Takju increases by 0.2 won per liter.

Obi Beer, the number one in the beer industry, announced that it will raise prices mainly for entertainment business products such as 330ml bottle products and PET bottle products.

The factory price of 330ml bottle products such as the flagship products, Cars Fresh and Carthlite, rose 11.53 won from 845.97 won to 857.90 won.

It is known that 1L of Cass PET bottles will increase by 32.42 won from 2,377.25 won to 2,409.67 won, while 1.6L of Cass PET bottles will increase by 51.75 won from 3,794.71 won to 3,846.46 won. As the factory price increases, the price of beer sold at the store also increases.

However, in order to reduce the burden on consumers, the price of 500ml bottles and cans, which are mainly sold at homes and restaurants, has been frozen. Hanmac, a new product, was also excluded from the price hike.

Obi Beer explained that the price adjustment was not due to the company’s own increase in product prices, but due to a revision of the law.

It is predicted that beer price adjustments by other liquor companies such as Hite Jinro and Lotte Chilsung Beverage will continue as the industry’s No. 1 raises prices.
