[경제]Below 300,000 births…the largest marriage decline rate, the first ever population decline

The number of births born last year was only 272,000, falling below 300,000 in just three years.

The severely low fertility rate led to the first ever population decline, a 33,000 decline last year.

The decline in the number of marriages has also reached a record high due to the impact of Corona 19, and it is feared that the population decline due to the low birth rate and aging population will further accelerate.

The rapid low birthrate brought the number of births to 200,000 last year.

There were only 272,400 newborns born last year.

The number of births per year, from 640,000 in 2000, remained at 400,000 for 15 years since 2002, fell to 300,000 in 2017, and fell to 200,000 in just three years.

The total fertility rate, which is expected to give birth to one woman in a lifetime, was 0.84, down 0.08 from the previous year.

This is the lowest in the world, far behind the average fertility rate of OECD member countries.

In particular, in the fourth quarter of last year, the total fertility rate plummeted to 0.75, reaching the level of 0.7 for the first time on a quarterly basis.

In the early 30s and late 20s, the fertility rate declined significantly, while the fertility rate declined in all age groups except for the 40s.

Compared to the previous year, the number of births decreased by 14,000 in the first and 13,000 in the second, and the number of births within two years after marriage decreased by 11,000.

The number of marriages last year recorded the largest decline due to the impact of Corona 19.

The death toll was 305,000, an increase of 10,000 from a year ago.

The mortality rate of men in their 60s was 2.7 times higher than that of women, and the number of deaths per month was the highest in January.

The population declined for the first time in history last year due to rapid low birthrates and rising deaths.

The natural decrease in the number of births minus deaths was -33,000.

The record low fertility and the declining marriages due to the corona 19 effect are concerned that the population cliff phenomenon caused by the low birth rate and the aging population will accelerate further this year.
