[경제]290 times detection of environmental hormones in mattress pillows, essential products

When camping in a car that is popular these days, so-called’car park’, air mattresses are used a lot.

Since it is a cramped space, it is inevitable that skin and respiratory tract contact are frequent. Some air mattress pillows have environmental hormones up to 290 times the standard value.

The so-called’chabak’ camping where you go to a quiet place to eat, sleep, and rest in the car is still popular.

One of the essential items when you’re quiet is an air mattress placed in the back seat.

There should be no problems with skin and respiratory health as long as it is in contact in a small room for a long time, but a significant amount of harmful environmental hormones was detected in the air mattress pillow.

The Consumer Agency surveyed 15 products on the market, and out of 5 products, phthalate plasticizers, a kind of environmental hormone, exceeded by up to 290 times.

Phthalate plasticizers can cause kidney damage and adversely affect reproductive function, such as decreased sperm count and infertility.

In one product, a phthalate plasticizer was also detected in the mattress on the floor.

Another three pillows produced up to twice as much formaldehyde, which causes contact dermatitis.

Consumer Agency emphasized that there is currently no separate safety standard for’air mattress for vehicles’, so the situation is in compliance with similar standards, and it is necessary to prepare related standards.
