On the 17th, Seo-jeong Lim, senior job at the Blue House, said, “I don’t think the employment situation will worsen with the lowest point in January.”
Lim said, “It is expected that 900,000 jobs will be put in first during the first quarter,” appearing in KBS Radio’s’Best Preview of Best Management’ this morning. Earlier, President Moon Jae-in mentioned the promise he made at the State Council on the 16th, “The central government, local governments, and public institutions will work together to create more than 900,000 direct jobs by the first quarter.”
Regarding the government-led job creation plan, Lim said, “Last year, there is a budget that reflects the budget that the central government will do 1,040,000 jobs. Among these, we are planning to do around 830,000 in the first and fourth quarters.” We are planning about 177,000 jobs with local budgets, and we recommend that we hire more than 70,000 people in the first and fourth quarters and try to work together.”
Lim emphasized the need to solve the employment crisis for the vulnerable through the role of the government’s receptionist. “Short-term jobs may be criticized a lot, but the most vulnerable are in a difficult situation, so when private employment has not recovered, the promised in the short term is 900,000 jobs created by the government directly.”
In addition, Lim said, “Practically, creating quality jobs in the private sector is also the right answer,” he said. “We are creating those parts through the Korean version of New Deal or through venture startups.” He also said, “This year, we are trying to create a good job through a 110 trillion won project through corporate investment and public investment in private projects.”
Regarding the additional correction (additional) budget for the 4th disaster subsidy payment, he said, “We plan to include the job budget,” he said. In particular, since it is not easy for young people or women to maintain their employment situation, we will consider including related parts.”
