Justice Minister Chu Mi-ae officially apologized for the first time on the 1st in connection with the corona 19 group infection in the eastern detention center in Seoul.
In an article posted on his Facebook page that day, Minister Chu said, “As the Minister of Justice, who is in charge of the correction of the corona spread in the eastern detention center, I am very sorry for causing concern to the people.”
He said, “The Seoul Dongbu Detention Center conducted an inspection with experts on December 25. The cause of rapid group infection was mainly believed to be a new prisoner who is asymptomatic after the third pandemic,” he said. “After quarantining new prisoners for 14 days, “We made sure to follow the procedure for accepting marriage.”
“Even if there are no symptoms, even if a confirmed person has no symptoms, the possibility of spreading due to this remains,” he added. “In order to prevent further spread, we received an expert’s recommendation to separate the confirmed and non-confirmed and lower the acceptance density.”
He also said, “By designating the Seoul Eastern Detention Center as a living treatment facility, we plan to reorganize it into a facility that accepts confirmed patients, and transfer non-diagnosed patients to other correctional institutions as soon as possible.” We will proceed with the follow-up work to lower the accommodation density as soon as possible by stopping at the same time.” Finally, Minister Chu emphasized, “As Minister of Justice, I will do my best to prevent the spread of corona until the end of my term. I apologize for causing concern again.”
This is the first time that Minister Chu has apologized for the spread of Corona 19 from the Eastern Detention Center. On November 27 last year, Minister Chu visited the eastern detention center for the first time in over a month after the first corona19 confirmed in the eastern detention center.
