The price of bitcoin, a representative cryptocurrency, surpassed 70 million won for the first time in a domestic exchange on the 14th.

According to the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, it surpassed 70 million won by 5 am on the day, and raised the peak to 71.2 million won by 9 am. As of 1:30 pm, it is trading at 70.83 million won. On another exchange, Upbit, Bitcoin is currently trading at 70.9 million won. On this exchange, Bitcoin rose to 7143 million won at 9:30 am. This is the first time that Bitcoin has surpassed 70 million won in the won market.

In terms of dollars, Bitcoin has crossed the $61,000 mark. According to CoinMarketCap, a global cryptocurrency market site, Bitcoin is trading at $61,313 as of 1:40 pm on the day. Around 5:40 a.m. that day, the peak was raised to $61,536. Bitcoin continues to rise after rising to the $60,000 high for the first time in history the day before.

Bitcoin fell sharply in the aftermath of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen’s negative evaluation after recording $50,000 on the 16th of last month, but rebounded again earlier this month.

The rise in bitcoin prices began in earnest after the US online payment company PayPal announced in October last year that it will be able to use cryptocurrency as a payment method. In addition, Tesla, a U.S. electric vehicle company, announced a policy to purchase Bitcoin worth $1.5 billion (about 1.7 trillion won) last month and accept it as a payment method, which acted as a catalyst.
