Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong said to the executives and employees on the 26th, “I am worried again because of my shortcomings. I hope that (Samsung) will be united without shaking.”

This is the first time that Vice Chairman Lee, who is imprisoned in Seoul Detention Center after receiving two years and six months in jail at the Gukjeong Nonongdan repatriation trial on the 18th, sent an imprisonment message to employees.

In a message delivered in the name of Samsung Electronics CEO Ki-nam Kim, Hyun-seok Kim, and Dong-jin Ko in the morning of that day, Vice Chairman Lee first apologized, saying, “Samsung family, I am worried again because of my shortcomings.”

“Samsung has had difficult circumstances over the past few years. You guys worked silently and protected Samsung. Thank you.” He said, “As you have done so far, I hope you will continue to be unwavering in the future.”

In particular, he stressed that although he is in jail, Samsung Electronics and other Samsung affiliates must fulfill their social responsibilities as well as investment, job creation and social responsibility.

Vice Chairman Lee said, “Regardless of my situation, Samsung must continue to follow the path it should go,” and said, “Samsung must be faithful to its duties such as investment and job creation promised to the public and be reborn as Samsung that fulfills its social responsibilities.” He then pledged, “I will reflect on myself more self-sufficiently and humbly.”
