North Korea “No Olympics due to Corona”… The concept of’Tokyo Dialogue’ creaks
[앵커]
North Korea has officially announced that it will not participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
It is a decision made to protect players from the corona 19 transmission.
With the Tokyo Olympics as an opportunity, the government’s plan to overturn dialogue with the North Koreans was disrupted.

On the website of’Chosun Sports’ run by the North Korean Ministry of Sports, the contents of the recent general meeting of the North Korean Olympic Committee were held in Pyongyang.
The Ministry of Sports said in this article that the North Korean Olympic Committee has decided not to participate in the Tokyo Olympics to protect athletes from the Corona 19 situation.
Previously, the Chosun Central News Agency reported that the Olympic Committee meeting was held on the 25th of last month by video conference, but at the time, it did not comment on the decision to absent from the Tokyo Olympics.
North Korea’s decision was somewhat anticipated.
This is because North Korea has closed its borders and strictly controls entry and exit to prevent the influx of coronavirus for more than a year since last year.
The red light lit up in the Moon Jae-in administration’s initiative, which attempted to reconnect dialogue with the North on the occasion of the Olympics as North Korea declared it would not go to Tokyo.
“The Tokyo Olympics, which will be held this year, may be an opportunity for dialogue between Korea and Japan, North and South, North Korea and Japan, and North America.”
The Ministry of Unification said that it has hoped that the Tokyo Olympics will serve as an opportunity to advance peace on the Korean Peninsula and reconciliation and cooperation between the two Koreas.
The dream of peace, which attempted to continue the’spring of the Korean peninsula’ which began at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics into the Tokyo Olympics, is blocked by the global health crisis called’Corona’.
