The scene of the naked male shower of’Oh! Master’ was controversial, and the replay containing the scene was eventually deleted.
In the MBC drama’Oh! Master,’ which aired for the first time on the 24th, there is a scene where the male protagonist Han Bi-su (Lee Min-ki) faces the female protagonist Oh Joo-in (Nana) who entered the bathroom while taking a shower and screams. In the scene, Han Bisu was shown taking a shower while covering only the main parts with a peach, and it was pointed out that it was “sexual harassment.”
The scene is what happened while the owner Oh, after signing a contract at a real estate, took a shower as usual, not knowing that the house was sold, and the former landlord’s son, Han Bisu, was not aware that the house was sold. It is said that it was a necessary scene to show the conflict between Han Bi-su and Ju-in Oh.
In particular, star drama writer Han Bi-su explained the situation in which the house was absolutely necessary for writing the script, and it was a setting that was indispensable to explain the relationship with the owner of Oh, who was like’Ang-suk’.
Nevertheless, it is pointed out that showing the naked body of a man and covering it with a peach emoticon does not fit the 15-year-old viewing rating. Furthermore, it was argued that “if the men and women had changed, the problem would have been great” and “obvious sexual harassment.”
Some point out, “How can simple naked exposure be sexual harassment?” However, there are opinions that it is meaningful in that it was an opportunity to instill the awareness that the exhausting shower scenes appearing in broadcasters can cause discomfort to viewers.
After that, MBC said, “We plan to take reasonable steps to minimize viewers’ discomfort,” and VOD clips and replays have been deleted.
‘Oh! Master’ suffered a lot of redemption, such as the director being replaced with a violation of internal company rules before the broadcast. It’s time to see if’Oh! Master’, which has been in controversy since the first broadcast, can capture the hearts of viewers again.
