On the 25th, when the official election campaign for the April 7 re-election began, a public opinion poll found that the Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon got nearly twice the approval rating of the Democratic Party candidate with Park Young-sun.
Busan also widens the gap
According to a poll conducted by Hangil Research at the request of Maeil Economic Daily and MBN on the 25th, the approval rating of Candidate Oh was 46.3%, and Candidate Park 25.3%. Hangil Research explained, “It can be interpreted that the conservative supporters gathered together because the survey was conducted on the 22nd and 23rd, including the 22nd when the unification of opposition between Oh Se-hoon and Ahn Chul-soo was achieved.”
When asked about the factors that influenced the decision of the candidate,’policy and municipal administration ability’ was the first with 23.9%. Next, the’National Court’ was followed by 20.7%. The company analyzed that this election seems to have a strong character of the’political judgment theory’, and that the recent emergence of Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) employees’ new city speculation and dissatisfaction with the government’s real estate policy.
In Busan, candidate Park Hyung-joon gained 58.8% of the support, almost twice as high as Kim Young-chun and Democratic Party candidate (29.3%). The gap between the two candidates’ approval ratings was 29.5%p, widening 16.9%p more than last month.
This poll was conducted by using a 100% wireless telephone answering method using virtual numbers provided by three telecommunications companies, and the sample error was ±3.3% in Seoul and ±3.4% in Busan with a 95% confidence level.
