[성지용 / 서울시 선거관리위원회 위원장]
It is an election to elect a representative. I am hoping that the election will further improve the city and make all citizens of Seoul happier, and I would like to give you a few recommendations.
First, in order to make the right choice, you need to know the details of the candidate’s qualities and commitments. Please carefully examine whether the policies and pledges proposed by the candidates are feasible, and whether they have the ability and qualities to realize them, and select the right person who will truly devote to the city. Political parties and candidates are encouraged to take the initiative to obey the law, to present actionable policies and pledges to voters, and to compete in good faith.
Next, the Election Commission will prepare and operate measures to ensure that voters can vote with confidence, with the attitude that the best quarantine is the best election management. We will thoroughly quarantine and disinfect all polling places. Voters who have reported their residence ballot due to a confirmed coronavirus can vote for residence at a hospital or life treatment center.
We will establish a special pre-voting booth to support the exercise of voting rights for voters who have been confirmed after the residence voting period has passed. On the day of voting, a fever check will be performed at the entrance of the polling place, and a temporary voting booth will be established for voters with abnormalities. When you go to vote, be sure to wear a mask and follow the guidelines of the voting clerk to cooperate in distancing, and follow the rules of conduct for voting participation.
The voting time for this by-election is from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 2 and 3, and the voting time on Election Day on April 7 is from 6 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. As the by-election day is a weekday, not a legal holiday, please make sure to check your polling place before heading to the polling place.
Fellow citizens of Seoul, the Election Commission has been carrying out election management tasks with’strict neutrality and fair management’ as our top priority. In this election, we will manage the voting and counting process more accurately and transparently so that the will of the voters is reflected in the election results. By voting in this election for the mayor of Seoul, please show that you are the proud owner of Seoul, the proud capital of Korea. Thank you.
