[사회][단독] Government buildings and police offices also’pass through’ with fake paper license plates

[앵커]

Reporters tested whether fake paper license plates could be identified by targeting the unmanned parking control system installed at the Seoul Government Complex and the National Police Agency, which are important national facilities, in the sense of preventing similar crimes and urging quick remedial work.

The result was a safe pass.

This means that anyone can sneak in without revealing their identity if they just want to.

Reporter Park Hee-jae reports.

In the unmanned parking control system, the device automatically recognizes the license plate and determines whether to open or close the circuit breaker.

However, according to YTN’s coverage, some devices were unable to distinguish between fake license plates made of paper and real license plates.

I will try to access the parking lot of a government office classified as a national security facility by attaching a paper license plate to the covered vehicle.

First, the National Police Agency Building.

It is classified as a’B-class’ facility, which is the second highest among important facilities in the country.

Four police officers are standing at the front door, and an unmanned parking control system is installed behind them.

When you try to enter after attaching a fake license plate made of paper, the blocker goes up.

It is recognized as it is because it is the same as the registered vehicle number.

“It comes out as a registered vehicle.”

This time, the government building in Seoul.

It is a place classified as a’premium facility’ such as the Blue House and the Ministry of National Defense.

Along with the unmanned control system, employees are located in front of the main entrance.

The license plate was a copy of the vehicle number registered at the government building.

A’registered vehicle’ notification appears on the electronic board, and the staff opens the front door.

There is no separate identification process.

The reporters came out straight from the entrance of the government building and announced that they had a paper license plate attached to them.

“I recognized a fake license plate, but it is not the original (registered) vehicle.”

The building protection officer said he was the first to learn that there was an error in the vehicle number recognition system.

With YTN’s coverage, we decided to check the security status of all government office entrances across the country.

Security experts point out that the currently commercialized vehicle number recognition system is difficult to pick out fake license plates.

It is because it simply recognizes the number.

As of last year, there were 23,000 unmanned parking lots reported throughout the country.

As technical loopholes have been identified, supplemental measures are urgent.
