Choo Shin-soo started as the second nominated batter in the 2021 KBO League demonstration game against NC Dinos held at Changwon NC Park on the 21st and struck out twice.

Choo Shin-soo, who said, “Seeing a lot of balls, comes first” showed a look even if the first ball passed the strike zone, and often swung the bat when entering the course he thought.

The report of the first hit on the KBO League stage was postponed to the next opportunity. This day was the first day that Choo Shin-soo visited the KBO League stage.

Choo Shin-soo, who graduated from Busan High School in 2001 and moved to the United States, debuted in the big leagues in 2005 and played an active part as a top hitter in the major leagues for 16 seasons.

Choo Shin-soo, who became a free agent (FA) in the major leagues after the 2020 season, decided to join the KBO League while searching for a new team and signed a contract with SSG, who had the right to hold. SSG gave Choo Shin-soo the highest annual salary for Korean professional baseball of 2.7 billion won.

After arriving in Korea on the 25th of last month and self-quarantine for 14 days, Choo joined the squad on the 11th of this month.

Choo Shin-soo’s first at-bat result in the KBO League was strikeouts.

Choo Shin-soo, who faced NC foreign right-hander Wes Parsons at first base safely in the first inning, slid a straight ball for the first ball and a slider for the second ball in order. He swung a bat on a high straight ball at 148 km/h on his third ball in a 1-ball-1 strike, but it was a futile swing.

Choo Shin-soo only watched the two-seam fastball on the fourth pitch passing through the strike zone, and retreated with strikeouts.

Choo Shin-soo, who entered the second at-bat from the first base in the third inning, struck out again by the Parsons.

Choo Shin-soo, who watched the first ball slider passing through the strike zone, turned the bat on the second ball slider, but was fouled.

In the second strike, when the outer high curve left the strike zone, Shin-soo Choo looked still and missed the high two-seam fastball outside the fourth pitch.

In the beginning of the 5th inning, Choo Shin-soo hit the third at-bat without a runner, and faced the changed pitcher Song Myung-ki.

21-year-old NC right-hander Young-Geon Song Myung-ki also showed a rather strange expression while dealing with Choo Shin-soo.

Choo Shin-soo watched the 145 km/h fastball and turned the bat when the second 145 km/h fastball flocked to the center.

For the first time, the batted ball extended to the outfield, but it was high, and NC left fielder Kwon Hee-dong ran out and caught the batted ball.

Choo Shin-soo, who was running to first base, smiled brightly as he returned to Dougout after the bat was caught.

Choo Shin-soo finished the game by being replaced by Kim Kang-min in the at-bat of the 8th inning.
