On the 21st, the 20th anniversary of the late Hyundai Group’s honorary chairman Jeong Ju-young, the family of Pan-Hyundai, will gather at the old home of the honorary chairman of Cheong Undong.

According to the Hyundai Motor Group on the 20th, a ritual will be held at the former residence of Cheongun-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on this evening, one day before Honorary Chairman Chung’s 20th anniversary. Honorary Chairman Chung’s wife, the late Mrs. Byeon Joong-seok, is due on August 16, but from last year, they decided to combine rituals and stay together on this day.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by Honorary Chairman Chung’s son, Chung Mong-joon, chairman of the Asan Foundation, Chung Mong-yoon, chairman of Hyundai Marine Corp., and Jang Son-in, chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, Eui-sun. HDC Group Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, nephew of Honorary Chairman Chung, grandson Jeong Ki-sun, vice president of Hyundai Heavy Industries, and Jung Il-sun, CEO of Hyundai BNG Steel, are also expected to attend. Chung Mong-koo, the honorary chairman of Hyundai Motor Group, is expected to be absent this year following last year.
This year’s memorial event is expected to be conducted simply in consideration of the coronavirus infection (Corona 19). On March 20 every year, Pan-hyundai families gathered at the Cheongundong home to hold a rite, but it is said that this year, the time will be changed for each group according to the quarantine guidelines.

From the 9th anniversary of Ms. Byeon’s 9th anniversary in August 2015, the Hyundai family moved the ceremonial place from the house of Cheongundong to the house of honorary chairman Jeong Mong-gu in Hannam-dong. Since then, since August 2019, Mrs. Byun’s 12th anniversary, she has been living in the Cheong Undong again. The Cheongundong home was inherited by Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo in 2001, and then handed over ownership to Chairman Eui-seong Eui-seong in March 2019.
Every year, the number of visits by family members and group executives to Seonyeong, Changwoo-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, is expected to decrease. Chairman Eui-sun Eui and other groups plan to visit Sun-young around the 21st. On the other hand, the’Asan Jeong Ju-young 20th Anniversary Commemoration Committee’ will hold a photo exhibition at the Hyundai Motor Group Gye-dong office building under the theme of’Young Jung Ju-young, passing through the times’ from the 22nd.
