Joe Biden’s first’high-level talks between China and the United States’, held after the inauguration of the US administration, ended on the 19th (hereinafter referred to as local time).
The two sides revealed that they had a’regrettable and informative’ conversation, although there were disagreements with each other, unlike the cold atmosphere at the beginning. In particular, the United States added that China and North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, and climate issues will be able to cooperate.
The meeting was held in Anchorage, Alaska, USA for two days from the 18th, and the first and second meetings were held on the 18th, and the third meeting was held on the 19th. At the beginning of the talks, the two sides appear to have confirmed each other’s “red line.”
Secretary of State Tony Blincoln and White House National Security Adviser were attended by US representatives.
According to AFP and Reuters on the day, after the talks, US officials said that although the talks between the two countries were tough and direct, they discovered several areas in which the interests of the great powers coincide.
“We expected to have a hard and direct conversation on a wide range of issues, and that was exactly it,” said Sullivan. He continued, “We will continue to cooperate with China on normal diplomatic channels in the future.”
“We have been able to have a very candid conversation with the Chinese side on a broad agenda,” Blincoln said. “Our interests intersect in Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, and climate,” he said.

After the talks, Rep. Yang Jetsu expressed his feelings on Twitter, saying, “The talks with the United States were honest, constructive, and beneficial.”
The two lawmakers said, “Of course, there are still differences (between each other),” he said. “(Nevertheless) the two sides must go on a healthy and stable trajectory with a conflict-free policy.”
In the midst of this, Wang Yi, a member of the state council and foreign affairs minister in charge of diplomacy, who attended the meeting with both lawmakers, said, “(At the meeting) sovereignty is a matter of principle, and China’s will to defend it should not be underestimated “He said.
At this meeting, the United States discussed the issue of violations of human rights and democracy in China in Xinjiang Uighur, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
Earlier, the two sides had a violent nerve war, which gave rise to the prospect of ‘Aren’t we going to get closer together than now?’
On the 18th, there was a first meeting, which is said to have taken about 3 hours, and there was a second meeting that started at 7:45 pm on the same day and ended at 10:00 pm (12:45 pm to 3:00 pm KST on the 18th).
After that, the 3rd meeting was held on the 19th (20th Korean time).
Before the third round of talks, the United States raised the issue of violations of human rights and democracy in China in Xinjiang Uighur, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
It also mentioned China’s cyber attacks and the economic pressure China is putting on its allies.
In response, the Chinese side expressed displeasure that China’s’core interests’ were attacked, and said, “In the United States, black people are being slaughtered” (both lawmakers).
In terms of all speech time, the United States claimed that China broke the promised time of 2 minutes and continued to speak for 15 minutes, and China responded that “the United States first exceeded the time greatly.”
The two sides confirmed each other’s red line through a sermon and shared some areas of cooperation, but it seems that they have not come up with an agreement such as a joint statement.
According to Reuters, an anonymous US official told reporters in a briefing that “I think this meeting has given us more information than before. It will be useful.”
He added, “In the course of normal diplomatic negotiations, we believe that there will be areas where we can cooperate (with China), and this includes North Korea, Iran, Afghanistan, and climate change.” Revealed.
