Hyundai Motor Company and Kia and the elegant brothers who operate the’People of Delivery’ are working together to develop an unmanned delivery robot that’comes in front of the door’. The plan is to develop and commercialize a robot that can move between floors in a building such as an apartment and has a payment function.

On the 19th, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia announced on the 19th that they signed a business agreement (MOU) with their elegant brothers for’R&D in the field of shipping robotic mobility and logistics’ at Hyundai Motor and Kia’s Namyang Research Center.

Using this agreement, the two companies decided to develop robotic mobility for unmanned delivery service and make efforts in various ways with the aim of advancing the smart logistics business using robots.

Based on the advanced robotics technology accumulated so far, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia will develop a robotic mobility platform capable of indoor and outdoor delivery and establish an integrated mobility management and control system. The elegant brothers plan to use the platform of Hyundai Motor Company and Kia to operate a robot delivery service linked with their customer order system.

In particular, the use of robotic mobility is expected to expand in the’quick commerce’ business such as food delivery, shared kitchen, and instant delivery service of daily necessities, Hyundai Motor Company and Kia said.

Through cooperation, the two companies decided to develop robots that are optimized for moving buildings with various structures, robots that can provide payment services, and robots that can move between floors in multi-storey buildings such as apartments.

Leading smart logistics in everyday life by putting the developed robot into the delivery/logistics site, developing an unmanned delivery solution based on the operation information collected during the delivery process, and developing a dedicated robot specialized for each space such as residential and logistics sites. I plan to do it.

An official from Hyundai Motor Company and Kia said, “As the demand for non-face-to-face services increases on a daily basis, the need for delivery robots is gradually increasing.” It plans to contribute to the establishment of mobility services for humanity.”

Hyundai Motor Group recently introduced a service robot’DAL-e (Dal-i)’ into the automobile exhibition hall to show a robot technology specialized in customer response, and is also leading the development of industrial and medical robots.

In order to expand the technology base in the robotics field, it is also actively partnering with various companies possessing domestic and foreign robot technology. Last year, it announced that it would acquire a stake in Boston Dynamics, an American robotics company, from Softbank Group.
