Explosion in Nonsan, Chungnam, estimated factory fire ‘7 injured, 1 missing’

[아시아경제(논산) 정일웅 기자] A fire, believed to be an explosion, broke out at a factory in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province. Seven people are injured in the accident and are being treated at the hospital. In addition, the whereabouts of one factory employee was not identified, so the fire department started searching.

According to the Chungnam Fire Department on the 18th, the fire occurred at an electronic component manufacturing plant in Noseong-myeon, Nonsan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, around 1:50 am on the same day.

The fire department received a report of the fire and issued a second stage of response, putting 240 personnel and 30 equipment on the site to completely extinguish the fire around 5:20 am.

However, in the meantime, three factory workers and one nearby resident were injured in a fire. In addition, three paramedics dispatched to the scene are being treated at the hospital for being struck by glass fragments.

The fire department is currently searching the interior based on statements from neighbors that in addition to the seven injured, one factory worker was in the building at the time of the fire.

The police and fire department are planning to investigate the exact cause of the fire, assuming that the fire has started in the research building of the factory.
