Bong-ju Lee “It’s not the broadcasting station’s fault or the aftereffects of the marathon. I wasn’t lucky”

[스포츠서울 박효실기자] Marathoner Lee Bong-ju (51), who was worried about his bent waist like an old man, revealed his physical condition.

Previously, Lee Bong-ju was surprised by revealing the latest situation through his SNS, who had a breath of together in the soccer entertainment JTBC of sports legends,’Combined and Chilled’ (hereinafter referred to as’Mung Chan’). This is because’Indomitable Marathoner’ Lee Bong-ju complained of pain with his back bent so much that he could not walk well.

Lee Bong-ju recently appeared in the talk corner’Spark’ of the YouTube channel Run Korea. Lee Bong-ju said about the symptoms of his back bent, “I keep going to hospitals and oriental clinics because there is no roadway. At first, I thought my back was not straightening because I had a problem on my back, but because there was a stiffness on my stomach and not on the back side, I pulled it from the front. Symptoms of bending up toIs appearing,” he said.

The missing jaw is because of the stiffness of the abdominal muscles. Lee Bong-ju, who was holding his chin with his right hand throughout the interview, said, “If I try to straighten my neck, I pull my abdominal muscles, so I can’t help it by pulling more (I squeezed the chin). Fortunately, there is no pain, but contractions continue to occur. There has been such a symptom for nearly a year already. “He said.

Lee Bong-ju said, “Even if I take an MRI or herniated disc, there is no problem at all. I can still run short, but my breathing is very short. I don’t feel like a marathon and I’m out of breath.”

The first symptom onset was after the Saipan field training, which left with the’Mung Chan’ team in January of last year. He said, “I went to Saipan, did training and games, and then I took two filmings, and the symptoms got worse from then. I trained to draw tires at the time, but I think I put a lot of energy at that time.”

At the time, the crowded team played a dragging battle with people on the sandy beach. Bong-ju Lee and Hong-cheol Yeo pulled a tire on which Mo Tae-beom was riding. He said, “The other side is attracted by large people such as Lee Man-ki-hyung, but we didn’t move even if we gave strength. So, I wonder if something has come from being overwhelmed,” he said.

He added, “I didn’t have any special symptoms at the site, but after a few days, the aftereffects started to appear. In fact, I thought it would get better if I took a few days off, but I didn’t stop strangely, but it’s been going on for nearly a year.”

This kind of injury is also the first time for Lee Bong-ju, who has been running a marathoner for decades and has been doing vigorous exercise. He said, “Because of convulsions, it is uncomfortable when sleeping and uncomfortable when sitting. The convulsions continue except when sleeping or when given strength,” he said.

One year after the symptoms of muscle abnormalities occurred, as a result, Lee Bong-ju confirmed the symptoms, but said that the cause could not be identified. Medically, this symptom is called dystonia. It refers to a symptom in which parts of the body are twisted or repetitive movements due to continuous muscle contraction.

Usually, muscle relaxants and stabilizers are prescribed in this case. Lee Bong-ju said, “Even though I continued to use this treatment, the symptoms did not alleviate, so I got an injection of Botox in my stomach. But the situation is the same. There is still no change. Rather, it was more difficult because Botox had an adverse effect.”

Lee Bong-ju said, “I went to the oriental clinic for about three months and got acupuncture and chuna treatment, but it didn’t work. I received chiropractic 20 times, massaged, and rehabilitation, but the symptoms are still the same,” he said. However, the more the treatment was performed, the worse the symptoms, and recently, the unfortunate situation was expressed that it was impossible to sleep without taking medicine.

He said, “I had an examination because it might be brain and spinal cord abnormalities, but there was no abnormality. I took MRI under sleep anesthesia because it was difficult to take MRI due to abdominal trembling,” he said. He said that he is currently focusing on chiropractic treatment, thinking that correcting the wrong spine is a priority.

He, who had been hiding the fact of fighting for a year or so, said, “I think there may be another person who suffers from the same disease as me. I will try to concentrate on treatment so that I can show you a quick recovery and running.”

Some fans also clarified about turning the arrows of criticism towards the crew and the broadcasting station. He said, “It’s not the broadcasting station’s fault, it’s because I’ve taken care of myself wrong. It’s not deliberately, nor is it because I wasn’t injured while playing soccer. Medical expenses and these are covered by insurance and personal expenses. The broadcasting station also handles insurance processing. There is” he said.

Regarding the opinion that there is such a side effect due to running too much and overworking the body, Lee Bong-ju said, “I don’t think that’s it. When I see a marathon, the seniors in their 70s and 80s also run full course. I don’t think there were any.”

Lee Bong-joo is a legend in the Korean marathon world who won the silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the gold medal at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok, and the 2001 Boston Marathon. He was awarded the Blue Dragon Medal of Sports Merit and is currently serving as a director of the Korea Athletics Federation.
