From next month, the general public will be vaccinated against Corona 19 starting with the elderly aged 75 or older. Those aged 75 and over receive the Pfizer vaccine, and those aged 65 and over and under 74 receive the AstraZeneca (AZ) vaccine.

The Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team announced on the 15th the ‘2nd Quarter Vaccination Implementation Plan’, which includes the subjects to be vaccinated, the type of vaccine, and the scale of vaccination from April to June this year.

The government plans to complete the first vaccination of the vaccine targeting about 12 million people in the first half of the year. In addition to the 793,000 vaccination targets for February and March, including nursing hospital workers, corona-dedicated hospital medical personnel, and corona primary response personnel, the detailed plan for vaccination of 11.52,400 citizens was included in the announcement.

According to the promotion team, vaccination for the elderly is largely divided into 75 years of age or older and 65 to 74 years of age. The only vaccines that are vaccinated in Korea are AstraZeneca vaccine and Pfizer vaccine. The domestic supply date of the rest of the vaccines, such as Modena, Janssen, and NovaVax, which were initially expected to be introduced in the second quarter, has not been confirmed yet.

First, 3.64 million people aged 75 or older start vaccinating at local vaccination centers from the first week of April. They will receive the Pfizer vaccine, which will be introduced sequentially from the end of March as early as possible.

In particular, as these elderly people have difficulty in moving or making reservations for vaccinations online, the government plans to pre-register the vaccination targets at the eup, myeon-dong area, and support movement, vaccination, return home, and even monitoring.

To this end, immunization centers will be opened in stages, including 140 in April and 69 in June.

On the other hand, about 4943,000 people aged 65 years or older to 74 years old will start in June, and the vaccine was decided as AstraZeneca vaccine. The promotion team plans to use consignment medical institutions that are expected to operate more than 10,000 nationwide to inoculate them with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

In order to keep the educational field safe, vaccinations for health teachers and lower grade teachers are also started. First, personnel in charge of special education or childcare for children with disabilities (51,000 people), kindergarten and school health teachers, and nursery personnel (13,000 people) will receive AstraZeneca vaccine sequentially starting next month.

In June, 491,000 workers, including kindergartens, daycare centers, and teachers in the first and second grades of elementary school, will also start vaccinating. The government will vaccinate more than 100,000 people with chronic diseases, such as dialysis patients, classified as high-risk groups within the first half of the year.

More than 385,000 people working in clinic-level medical institutions, dental clinics and clinics, oriental medicine clinics and clinics, and pharmacies will receive the AstraZeneca vaccine from June. About 800,000 people, including police, firefighters, and soldiers, increase the vaccination period from the first quarter to the second quarter.

To prevent the influx of the mutant virus, airline crew members receive the AstraZeneca vaccine from May.

The promotion team said, “A total of 1,7793,000 doses of vaccine will be introduced during the first half of the year.”
